Our producers are at the heart of what we do.
They inspire us daily — not just through the authentic, real food they create, but through the stories behind every product on our shelves. When we walk through the deli, we don't see jars and loaves and wheels of cheese. We see the hands that made them, the kitchens they came from, and the families standing quietly behind each label.
Each one carries a journey.
Early mornings that begin long before the rest of the world is awake. Long days that stretch well past sundown. Seasons that don't always cooperate, ovens that don't always behave, and harvests that don't always come in the way they were hoped for. There is a quiet determination it takes to keep going — to wake up the next morning and do it all again, even when life isn't always easy.
Some of our producers are seasoned, with decades of craft in their hands. Others are just starting out, finding their feet, learning as they go. Some make in tiny batches from home kitchens. Others run small farms tucked away in the valleys around us. What they all share is care — a deep, personal investment in what they put their name on. You can taste it. You can see it. And once you know the story, you can never quite go back to the supermarket shelf in the same way again.
But that's the beauty of it all — out of those challenges come something honest, something meaningful… something truly good. A jar of preserves that tastes the way it does because the fruit was picked at exactly the right moment. A loaf that rose slowly because someone refused to rush it. A piece of biltong cured the way it has been cured for generations, because shortcuts were never on the table.
It isn't always the easiest way to run a deli. Small producers come with small batches, shifting availability, and the occasional 'sold out until next month'. But we wouldn't have it any other way. Because when you support local, you aren't just buying a product — you are keeping a livelihood alive, a tradition alive, a story alive.
And it's a privilege for us to share that with you. Every time you walk through our doors, every time you pick something off the shelf, you are part of that story too. You are the reason these producers can keep doing what they do. You are the reason the early mornings and long days are worth it.
So thank you — to our producers, for the heart you pour into your craft. And to our customers, for choosing to believe in the people behind the products. This little corner of the world is richer because of all of you.
